Axios recently spotlighted how Hollywood is adapting post-strike, using data from ProdPro. This data sheds light on the significant changes in studio content spending in today's business environment. The big question is: What's the 'new normal' for production spending? Especially at a time when media stocks are being judged more on profitability than growth. ProdPro's data isn't just speculation – it reveals the true scale of the industry's spending pullback, and where new opportunities await.

Based on ProdPro’s exclusive research, Studios had cut back on production before the strikes. The first quarter of 2023 had 31 fewer active TV and film productions compared to the same 2022 timeframe, which translated to more than $1 billion less in spending.

Despite the overall trend on cuts, the post-strike period is expected to see a surge in production activity. ProdPro is currently tracking 149 projects in prep or pre-production, and over 400 projects in active development.
